I have a G1 (34-102MM in 35 MM equivalent). The only way to use a zoom is to go for a D30 or D60 with zoom lens.
There must be a lot of photographers who would like to fork over maybe around $1000 for a G2 with fixed zoom of say 110 - 400 MM (in 35 MM equivalent). Again the cost would still be way below that of a D30+ zoom combination. It is less flexible than that of a D30 + zoom alternative though. The major merit being that it is a lot more manageable in size and it does not have the infamous dust problem (to the CCD).
Maybe I am not ready to go for a SLR digicam yet. But meanwhile I would love to have a G2 or G3 fixed zoom.
As far as I know, no one made that yet. Likely it is technically not viable. Is it?
