Out of gamut Problem
I have a favorite image of an orchid, which has a significant out of gamut content:

The only way I have been able to correct the problem was by converting to index color which prints better than the 24 bit out of gamut color, but is still very poor compared to the monitor image. It seems that some purple colors fall out of the gamut range.
Is there a better way to replace the out of gamut colors rather than simply converting to index, or 256 colors?
I have tried everything that is available in Photoshop5.1 to no avail.
Adjusting the color balance, saturation, levels etc. has no effect on changing any of the out of gamut colors back to a printable color.
I thought there must be a better way of dealing with gamut problems than what I have tried. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
