Hi guys !!

I had D30 since last July and had only one lense Sigma 24-70 F2.8.
My daughter(22 months old) is my prime target.

I want to have 70-200 zoom lense for this purpose.

Anyone can compare sigma 70-200 and canon 70-200.
In SOUTH KOREA, sigma is cheaper than canon about $300.

Any comments will be welcomed !!

Hi, I haven't used the Sigma, but the Canon 2.8 70-200 zoom has been rated one of the top lenses Canon has produced. And since a new version with IS (Image Stabilization) has just been released at $2,000 USD, you may be able to pick up a used one for less than the Sigma. I sold non-IS when I got the new one.

Good luck.

This has been beaten to death, if you do a search, you will find a lot of posts.
Bottomline is, both are excellent lenes & you cant go wrong with either lens. If you are on budget, sigma is a very wise choice. I wasent on budget & I still purchased sigma, I am very happy with mine.

I looked at both of these lenses. To my eye, the Canon offered somewhat better image quality, so I went with the Canon, as it was within my budget.

That lens is on my camera 90% of the time...

There's nothing new about the IS version of the 70-200 f2.8L, it's been around for sometime.

RonHowever when Roger posted that, back in October 2001, it had only been out for a month. The "Similar Threads" at the bottom of every page is a menace to sanity.

I wonder if the original poster or the 1st replier ever return to the forum at all?? (perhaps under another name)
