I had protected some of the images in my camera and then downloaded them to my computer. Upon closer examination some of those didn't look as good as I thought.
So, now I want to throw them away but it tells me the image is locked. Is there a way for me to unlock them in my computer, or do I have to load the CF back into the camera and do it there?

just format the card in the camera. remember, you will lose everything on it.

No, I don't want to do that yet. I'm trying to sort the good images and throw away the bad ones, but it wont let me trash some of them because they were protected in the camera. Can I unprotect/unlock them in the computer and throw them away somehow?
Otherwise, I have to unprotect them in-camera, then reload them on the computer and trash them...ugh..theres a lot of them(to trash) to...

I've never taken a protected image, but try right clicking the file and select properties. Under the general , attributes, look to see if the file is read only? If it is, deselect it. This is just a guess, I'm not sure if protecting the image does something else.
good luck

But, how do you unprotect or unlock a file on the local computer like in Canon ImageBrowser. Like the OP, just last night, I locked an image on the computer. I cannot figure out how to unlock it on the computer. I never did protect it on the camera.

Assuming you are using Windows, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the image(s). Right click on each, then choose properties and uncheck the "read only" check box. That should "unlock" them.

Using Mac. I should have thought about that, though. On Windows, it would have been easy, but I wasn't thinking about checking the Info for the file on the Mac. There is a little option checkbox there that says "Locked". Doh! :)

Wait a minute, how are you unlocking it Kerry? I'm using a Mac also, so the Windows option won't work for me? When I try to trash the file it says it can't complete the function because it is locked.

In Imagebrowser, if you dbouble click on the thumbnail or click on "View Image", you can right click the image and uncheck the "Lock" box. With EVU it's much easier since you don't have to open the image first. All you do is cick on the "Unlock" icon. Beats having to go to Finder to unlock the file if you're already in ImageBrowser.
