I have been trying to capture a better combination of a clear sky and a decently lit object. My A95 has trouble doing both. I thought that I would post these for some recommendations. Thanks :).

Welcome to the forums. Believe me, it's not your camera. The range that you are trying to capture is difficult for any camera. Fortunately there is always post processing. There are several threads in the post processing forum that deal with this issue. Here's a couple for starters:
