Thumbnails. Who remembers thumbnails?

Remember a couple of years ago when it was possible to post a thumbnail that was a hot link to a full sizes version? I know that we can post a link to a FSV, but is there any way to post a thumbnail that will perform the same function as the link does? Even if the syntax is awkward, is it possible?

If You create the thumb Yourself and host both on Your own server You could do this. (Remove the extra dots after url and img)
