My second attempt at a flash filled portrait with little other light.

Jamie, as I wrote on the Sig:
Excellent use of fill flash. The lighting is nice and soft, if a little flat (as would be expected.) Skin tones look great.
Try a different background next time. The depth of field is good, but the objects in the background are not, especially the line of door trim that shoots straight up from the kisser's nose and bisects the top part of the image.
The shooting angle is too low for my taste. Unless you want to accentuate the lower portion of their faces (e.g., chins and cheeks), try shooting with the camera closer to eye level.
Also the focal length could probably be a little longer.
I do not mean for this critique to sound harsh; you have real potential with shots like these and I hope these are helpful comments to you. I am no pro, but similar comments have helped me along the way.

Don't even think to apologise Mitch, all your points were valid. The door frame especially. As for the angle it was a bit hard they were curled up on a stairway. Maybe next time, I think they like the idea.

Jamie
Mitch has really covered all the bases and there is virtually nothing to add.
The 3 B's you already know about. Busy Background Bad !
Lighting especially from flash is very acceptable.
The point most noticeable to me, and already mentioned , is the distortion that comes with being too close to the subjects. The parts of the face nearest the camera appear too large. Hence big nose and big chin.
Neither flatters the girl on the right.
And, also mentioned, try not to shoot up the subject's nose. It is nobody's most flattering feature :-)
I'm impressed with your flash lighting . Good work.
kind regards
