A few days before hurricane Rita arrived, I found this woodpecker in Bear Creek Park. I shot a bunch of pictures and I thought this was the best. I would love to catch one of these in flight.

NIce full body shot Mike. Did you try to decrease the brightness? The bright sky detracts from the bird's head.

Too much highlight destruction on the background but besides that its a nice shot.

There is an interesting piece of "sky paint" on the tree trunk where the bird's head point is aimed.

Great shot Mike, I agree with the others about the background but the 2 posting is a much better improvement. beautiful bird.
