I'm interested in how to obtain press credentials.

You may as well print your own press credentials with your computer for as much good as it will do you. Don't waste your time with IFPO. If you really are interested in getting press credentials, get your portfolio in very good shape and try to get a job as an intern at the local newspaper. Smaller newspapers are usually looking for part time shooters but you better be ready to work strange hours and get paid very little. Even then you probably won't be getting the assignments you really want. But if you are a good shooter and have lots of dedication it will pay off.
