I am going to be working on a project archiving thousands of digital photos and need a good photo organizing/database software. Does anyone have any experience with good software? I have tried Adobe's Album but it is too goofy to have hundreds of tags. Any other suggestions? Price is not really an issue.
Thanks a million,

Extensis portfolio is good as it allows you to keep a track of material that is off-line and is robust enough to handle hundreds of thousands of images. Does have some quirks though and the user interface is not the frienliest around.

I use iMatch and it does what I need and a lot more. Inexpensive ($50 I think) and easily handles my ~11,000 (6,000 RAWs and another 5,000+ processed images). Easy to use, but still allows fairly complex things to be done.

Well, maybe I could make one contribution -- in '05 I started on Elements 4, I believe, and played with the organizer...but at the time I wasn't managing 10's of thousands of photos. Things have gone rapidly downhill since then, I'm afraid...

+1 on Pordolio. We currently have about 85 thousand images on the server at work. Portfolio works great.

I'm sure he has.
This is only demonstrates that someone used the search function first; which is great by me :D

Since this got necro'd, I have switched to Lightroom just for convenience. I think iMatch is far better, but it never was part of a workflow.
