My neighbor's son had his first Communion today. he didn't like what the official photographer had done, so I improvised this. What do you think?

That's a really good shot FreddyCR. It seems the light in our church is always very yellowish/soft and it is difficult for me to get any halfway decent pictures at all... I'd be very happy with what you got!

Very nice. Makes me wonder what the other "photographer" did.

I thhink you have captured an excellent, classical portrait of a young man. Light is superb, framing and posing just right. Very nice job indeed.

Good shot, but most likely not taken in the church, right?
So that's the 'formal'?
I bet your neighbours will love it for years to come.
Best regards,
Andy

Thanks. The pic was taken in my place, when they got back from the church.
Light is available light from a window to the left and a small one on the top right + a reflector (on the right) + PS "spotlight " effect.
Lens 50 mm 1.8 at 1/60., ISo 400. f/2.5
BG worked in PS. I lightened up a bit the vignetting effect produced by the spotlight effect. Considered giving a bit more of light to the hands, but in the end just left them as they are.

Excellent composition. I love the capture as far as the boy is concerned. I'm not crazy about the background.Looking closely it seems to have these wierd colored lines. Three corners of the picture seemed to be vignetted. Not sure if that was intentional but to me it looks a little funny.
Other than that I love the skin tones. Thats something I'm always struggling to get this good.

What program do you use for RAW conversion?
The colored lines or waves might be a consequence of the compression. Nothing showed in the original file nor in the 8 x 10 print.

Actually, you know what. I'm at home now and I don't see that weird moire at all. It was my monitor at work. It looks much better on my monitor. As I said the only thing that looked a bit strange was the three cornered vignette. Was that intentional? The more I look at it now the more it doesn't look so bad. Just my preferences I guess.
