Hi,

I am having problem with my photo that will look liked

Even I use F4.5 and manual focus on G3, they are never so sharp and "crisp".

What is done on it or the next photo "Ten Thousand Photos" to make them appearing so sharp and contrasty? Thanks.

The original background has been removed. The edges of the subject have been left hard instead of feathered.

Like Conk said, photoshop can go a long way to improving pictures, but it sounds as if you need some basic pointers too. For sharper pictures try these:

1. The higher the f-stop the sharper the pictures, f8 is usually better than f4.5.

2. Higher shutter speeds help sharpness. If you are handholding the camera, don't shoot at less than 1/60. Also depending on subject movement a higher shutter speed will help.

3. Know how to use autofocus. The autofocus on the G3 is very good. It is weighted toward the center of the frame so place the subject you want in focus at the center and then keep holding the shutter button as you recompose the shot.

4. Tripods help to avoid unsharpness due to camera shake.

5. Flash will help to freeze action and provide sharpness if used correctly.

6. Also a lower ISO speed will result in better sharpness.

Thanks for the pointers. :)

I will review my shooting technique. :( I tend to use the center aperture. For 35mm gear, the sweet spot is generally in F8 or there about. I am spoil with IS lenses to avoid handshake below 1/90. :) As a result, I haven't had problem with getting "tick sharp" subjects intended.

Correct me if I am wrong. For G3, I think the sweet spot is at F4 or so depending on the focal length.

I would like to know more about PS techniques used on that photo. I have invested in pen tablet and willing to learn the correct techniques to sharpen my photos from G3. Also, since I invested already, I don't have money for nik Sharpen Pro or other 3rd party add-on to my PS6. :(

Back to the subject of sharp photos. I also like the sharpest from http://www.pictures4fun.com (Warning it has nudity). In addition to sharpest, notice how white and sparkling are those eyes.

Thanks.
