Well,

I've got my G2, sold my G1. I am trying to avoid any buyers remorse at this time. I have taken about 50 pictures at this point of different subjects just to give it a first run. At this point I have had a little trouble with focus and think it may have something to do with the settings. Frankly, I am very critical of focus as this is the only negative that I had with the G1 and was hoping that the G2 would improve or at least be the same.

Please comment on the following settings.

Light metering Mode. 2 options.
Which should I select and why?

Spot AE Point. 2 options, AF point and Center.
Which should I use and why?

Do any of these affect focus?

I am going out to take some more pictures for further tests. Thanks for your help! :)

REGARDS,

Until you learn get more comfortable with the G2...

Use "evaluative metering" as it wil be more adaptable to varying situations.

Set the AE point to AF point (so that focusing and autoexposure will both concentrate on your primary subject)...

And in general, try to use that halfway point on the shutter release, to "preset" the exposure and focus on your primary subject (or target...) and then finish the "push" after composing the whole image.

Good Luck!
