I finally captured my first preying mantid (Mantis religiosa), unfortunately it was on the side of my house instead of on a nice green plant. This mantis probably introduced from europe, is found in two forms, the brown (seen here) and the green form.

Great job on your first mantis. Mantis are one of the only insects I've found that seems to like to pose for the camera :-) !

Great shot Dennis, very sharp and crisp, perfect capture. whatever you do, dont try and pet him.:D ;) :DThanks Bald Eagle, I kept expecting him to fly off, but he didn't move until after I left. As you probably know, he watch every move I made.
