looks like your wb is off a little if that's a white reflector. shot in raw?

Bruce,
I hope you took my criticism in the humorous light it was offered... I was really only joking about the hairs... Nice edit job, though! And still a nice crisp shot.

Ok I did a custom white balance on this one, but I still like the first one.

I'm a bit puzzled by the 1/13 second... that's way too long for a flash exposure. Won't hurt exposure, but is not needed either.

Don't know what camera you have, but on the 10D/20D there's a custom function to limit the shutter speed to 1/200 (1/250) for flash photos.

OK, your subject is not going to move much, but I prefer a faster shutter speed in order to be sure to eliminate motion blur (even on a tripod).

BTW, I think you used too short a focal length and were too close to the subject ... she looks rather short and fat, which is not flattering
And I also think that the first white balance is better than the second ... flash is obvious on the second.

Best regards,
Andy

Hi Andy thanks for the comments, I must agree I do like the first one better but this was only playing about one evening when I got bored.

As for the 1/13 shutter speed and flash, I was zoomed in and the aperture was 4.5 I just lowered the shutter to even out the in camera meter, I did take a shot without the flash but there was shadows so I used the flash to eliminate the shadows.

I was in manual mode 5 ft from the doll and it was shot in landscape mode so this is cropped to portrait mode and yes this doll is short and fat, hope that answers some of your questions.

btw my wife is selling this doll thats why I was taking pictures of it and through showing the first picture to a few buyers they want me to do some product shots for them for a large web site and catalogue lol.

Regards

Bruce
