I caught sight of this one tonight, he was about 5 feet away. I took several shots at this range, When I went to move a foot closer he was gone. I love having the extra range I now have, before this shot would have been impossible to take. no crop on this photo. hope you like.:D

Thanks for the very kind words, really do appreciate them. Would you believe that is a very tiny fly, Probably hoping he wont be noticed by the Robber Fly. great eye on spotting that.:D :D

Ha , what a hairy guy
That's what I call a very clear and sharp pic. Excellent BG isolation.
Thanx for sharing.

Great shot. I am glad that you like your lens. It's always good to have the extra working distance. I think this robberfly is a pretty one as compared to what the ugly ones that I've seen.

Thanks Leo, Its really made a difference for the kinds of shots I can now take with the extra distance. On the Robber Fly, I caught him on a good hair day.:D ;) :D

nice shot baldie. That is one creepy looking fly. I don't ever see robbers that much, and I have never photographed one. Where would you suggest I look. I am in FLA like you so I should have some similar habitat.

BTW I know I havn't posted in a while, but i have been switching my entire system over to Mac and it's a real ball buster...:p

Hopfully I will have some shots to share soon, cuz I have been shooting!!!

great shot as usual BE... the sharpness is spot on........... however i think this would have looked better in vertical format with the fly nearer the bottom of the frame...

this fly has got some really cool lookin feet :)

Thank you very much Alan, for the very kind words. as always. I've got one or two more shots, I'll take a look and see what I can do, As far as a vertical look, I agree, the feet look very cool.:D :D :D (this was the best I could do, none of the shots were cropped, so I didnt have much to work with, let me know if this looks better)

The detail on this is fantastic! The robber fly is so sharp and I like the background colors and blur.
