I've seen sparrows posted here before but not these two species. The first one is a Lincoln's Sparrow, which is rather uncommon for the Ottawa region, so I was glad to get such a clear look at him. The second is a Swamp Sparrow, in full song - a bird which is common, but quite shy. Both of these shots were taken at Petrie Island.

Thanks! Yes it is. For those of you on a budget and looking for a zoom lens I strongly recommend this one. Sometimes I do wish I had better reach but it just makes me use better stalking methods and some of the results I've achieved so far have been satisfactory...:D

Those are beautiful shots! I've yet been able to get a clear shot of any bird. Nice to know that I have a lens thats capable of it (even if I'm not!)

fantastic shots!
I see frames in a lot of posted photos, can someone tell me what program you are using to create these? Is there a "frame program" or are you building these in photoshop?
Thanks!

That first shot is simply beautiful. Fantastic composition! I love the way the gently bending reed frames the subject.

Love the first one Dan! Beautiful colors that compliments the composition. I'm jelous! Don't have a Lincolns yet.
Second one is also nicely composed and I like the singing pose!
Tres Beau.
