Hello. Brand new to using LR3. Self-teaching so please bear with me.
I have taken a photo of my children--the background is a new curtain and it appears very wrinkled in some areas. What tool can I use to "erase" the wrinkles.

I have tried the clone tool and a few other things but it did not give me the results I expected. Any tips appreciated. I'm probably just using the tools incorrectly.

I do have a LR3 book I'm using and often self-teach using tutorials on the computer. Still not finding an "answer" or help for what I am specifically trying to achieve.

Well, you need to realize that this type of thing is typically an area that is done in an image editor such as Photoshop, Elements, Gimp, that type of thing.

Lightroom has tools that may help but you have to think through things -- maybe a combination of the clone tool or the healing brush tool followed by a brush set to soften might do the job.

Just a stray thought -- you might try using a Local Adjustment Brush with the Clarity and Sharpness sliders cranked back to a fairly large negative value. At least that would blur the curtain. You could also use the same tool to reduce the exposure and/or brightness of the curtain to make it less noticeable.

Local adjustment brush with negative clarity and negative sharpness as Rimmr suggested would be the best way to blur the curtain in LR3.

Lightroom is really only good for basic cloning/erasing. Remember these features are only simplified versions of Photoshops features. For more complicated work use Photoshop.
