mmm... and to be honest (well there's no nice way to put this) the BTCC crowd is so... well... pikey. Chav scum central, really.

Therr are some 'interesting' people who spectate the BTCC. Again I shall be the other side of the fence in my tango suit. I think this could be a good meet with all the championships as far as I am aware still up for grabs. Lets see where I get posted this time, so far I have had some plumb posts this season, hope to finish on a high too.

Not if they paid me.

I've given up on the BTCC series, small grids in the BTCC, Porsche and SEAT championships, poor drivers and Wacky Races style driving and as Cadwell mentioned, not very nice crowds ( Thruxton's crowd was OK this year, my only BTCC event but Brands and Donington last year were loutish).

what colour was the seat cap you wore on sat , i have pics shooting back from paddock hill to druids , but all the marshalls there seem to be women , i seen 2 blokes in caps one yellow one blue

Larger woman is Kathy very loud, smaller blonde woman (seat cap) is wifey, Tall bloke with muller style hair cut (and he is proud of that) is my cousin, short bloke my uncle. Fat bloke grey cap, black webbed belt is me.
then there are the flaggies and observer. there was another couple very very short woman and another average bloke, never met them before but nice marshals all the same.

Sounds enchanting, think I will give it a miss, there are much better race series about anyway, anyone with half a brain and a long term interest in Motorsport will know that. Not that I am implying that the BTCC crowd have less than half a brain or anything.

I was thinking of going , I must admit I still have a soft spot for the Touring cars. though I preffered it in the 80's:oops:

pikey. Chav scum

Glenn that's actually very true mate!

It's people who see it on TV and think "I like Vauxhalls/Hondas/Peugeots I'll go to that" and think it's the ultimate race meeting.

I drive a Peugeot 306 GTi6....erm.....

I see what you mean though.

Motorsport for beginners.

I can think of lots of things that BTCC can stand for, but racing it does not. The actions of Plato on the track matches that of the lager louts in the crowd and I approve of neither. The Seat championship this year has been like watching ice melt in a freezer, and the latter is far more interesting. Formula BMW has turned into a competition to see who can get the most barrel rolls as there is a fundamental design fault with the car. Clios, for goodness sake bring back the old models that had some real grunt and door mirrors that never lasted more than two laps, it is far too tame now.

You may gather I won't be there, even though I could be paid for it.

Howdy Dan, regards to your good lady and I hope we meet up again soon.

Well call me Chav i still love the Touring Cars maybe it is because i get lots to do on those weekends, and i am also a big Plato fan (i know there aren't many of us left)but that is mainly due to his attitude off the track and how nice he always is to us marshals. But i DO agree the crowd is somewhat flawed and on a number of ocasions i have felt embarassed for people who are just making asses of themselves in the crowd. Bring back the halcyon days of yester year with all the teams back in it.

See you all soon

I agree with you , I've seen Plato twice and he was very good with people , also after the incident where he was excluded from race 2 at silverstone , he put his hands up and said he was wrong he was carryng more speed and didnt want to loose it unfortunatly the was a big ramification becuse he touched the car in front and it spun , unlike many of the poor racers who just lie and try to pass the blame or start crying Tim harvey style;) Jason Plato is a racer and very competitive , the btcc has been tough racing for many years , remember the Cleland era:p

I'm quite low in class but im no chav

Well it seems the general consensus on this forum is that anyone who enjoys the BTCC is a chav, so with this in mind i went out today and bought a burberry baseball cap

I shall wear it with pride if i go to Brands on sunday, where i'll be in the crowd, swilling lager, offering cheap tarmac & block paved drives and beating people up with my new 100-400L

:D

So gents, is this a photography forum or have i stumbled into the Garrick Club by accident?

Hardly all that go, probably only a small minority but some of the crowd I saw at Brands and Donington last year would have been more at home on a football terrace .

The actions of some in the crowd is a small factor in my choice not to go to BTCC meetings this year, the main factors are the small grids, the dull and boring races and the Micky Mouse driving standards.

One thing I really do like about the BTCC is that it gives me a chance to chat to VBH. I also admit to knowing Luke and his dad very well and take the opportunity for a get together. That side of things is OK, but you don't have to go back much further than the days when Menu was behind the wheel to get better action and bigger crowds. I think Gow knows he has a problem, but unless he stops being controlled by VX for the regulations, then it won't improve.

Plato off track has his good and bad moments, just don't catch him in one of the latter.
