Hi all,
I own a Bushnell 4.5 inch reflector telescope. Does anyone know if i can attach my G3 to it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi fredbarnes,
I'm not sure if this will help but if you go to page 3 in this forum there is a topic titled "Photo of Jupiter" by dtrayers that include pictures of how he hooked his G3 to his telescope. I thought it was pretty cool.

Hey Fred
Taking pictures though a telescope requires alot more space and explanation than I can give here. The guy(dtrayers) that posted the Photo of Jupiter that "havg3"is referring to was using his G3 attatched to an Orion Starmax 102 which is "Cassegrain" type telescope. The picture of his telescope in the Orion catalog shows it on a manually controlled equitoral mount, but he may have a installed a motorized mount which is best for prime focus astrophotography as he can track the object for long periods of time for longer exposures. Try getting in touch with him through his post and ask him how he did it. In the mean time you can do what I did. I have an 8 inch Orion Sky view reflector. I bought a "SteadyPix SLR camera mount" from Orion telescope part number 05228 that allows me to do "afocal" photography with my G3 by shooting through the eyepiece. The SteadyPix cost $34.95 and will attatch to your reflector! But you will pretty much be limited to taking shots of the moon(maybe Venus and Jupiter with practice) because of the long exposure times and a motorized equitorial mount that is required for good astrophotography. But taking pix of the moon is real fun what with the phases and all. Go to telescope.com, thats Orions website and see what they have. Maybe you could post what results you get if you buy the SteadyPix. I would be real interested to know what you learn. Hope this helps. Sorry bout the long post, But I'm just scratching the surface as far as astrophotography goes tho.

Any good machinists out there to make a bayonet adapter like the lensmate just for scope type usage? Hmmmm....this could be nice for Microscope usage in the lab as well!
