Has anyone noticed that when using the flash with a wide-angle or telephoto lens that the pictures come out with dark shadows on the subject down in the corner on the right side because of the barrel of the adapter and/or lens? When I don't use the flash, the picture is normal. But I think there would be times that I would want to use the flash. How can I get around this? Thanks!

What you need is an external flash like the Canon Speedlite 420EX. Since it'll be sitting up higher than your wide anlge lens you shouldn't have any more shadows in your flash pictures.

Thanks! So when you use an external flash, the original flash is disabled? (Forgive me, if this is a silly question) :)

No silly questions in this forum... YES, the flash is disabled when using an external flash. I have the EX420 and it makes a big difference when taking pictures. I highly recommend it. It adds some weight to the camera but a good addition. I bought a prostrap for my camera so if anything happens accidentally, the strap catches the camera.

lasercomp,
Thank you for the info. I will look into that. I just feel relieved that there is an alternative. Thanks, again!

lasercomp,

Can you show me a picture of the prostrap or the link that shows it. Thanks!

Check out their website at www.prostrap.com. The strap is soft leather and feels very strong. I paid 5.99 fopr it but I won it on Ebay. I think they sell it for like 9.99 + s/h. I hated the neck strap that came with the camera and needed something to hold the camera in case my wife drops it or me for that matter. I figured better to pay 6 bucks then have to kill myself if it slips out of my hands.

I also bought a wrist strap but from B&H Photo and the strap is made by Canon and has the Canon logo on it so it looks like it came with the G3 even though it didn't.

The only thing is, it costs around $14.00. Not that that's a big deal for me but it might be for others on a tighter budget.

Before I bought the G3, I used to wonder why anybody would swap out their neck strap for a wrist strap. But after using my G3 for a while and nearly ripping my head off my shoulders every time I tried to check the LCD monitor, I decided the safest bet would be to get a wrist strap instead. I need reading glasses to see anything up close so without them I need to move the thing I'm looking at an arms length away....which is what I end up doing with the G3! :o(
