I'd like to see a thread full of Lighthouses, so if you have a shot of one that you would like to share, please post it here. :D
I'll start with this one taken last October on the Oregon Coast. I'm told it's called "Cape Disappointment".
I hope you enjoy. ;)

Some very nice shots posted. I'm afraid I have 100's of lighhouses on film/prints...all in storage. Only a few dozen digital shots, these 3 aren't necessarily the best, but are already on a site and easy to post. All are on the Oregon coast.

Don't see too many lighthouses around here, but a couple of weeks ago, went to the far South East coast of New Zealand, and captured these at Nugget Point.
http://wazz*****scity.com/20d/nugget_point_moonrise.jpg
Arrived there a bit late for sunset, but captured the near full moon rising up.
(Angled like this, as 17mm couldn't fit the rocks and moon in, on a flat horizon.)
http://wazz*****scity.com/20d/nugget_point_sunrise.jpg
And, as I wasn't happy I missed the sunset colours, I decided to stay in the area, and get the sunrise off to the East, directly behind it... At least the cloud didn't full cover the sun coming up. :)

This one is not a lighthouse: according to the road sign it is a "light beacon", against the sun. The picture was taken in Baltimore, Ireland, with my old Olympus Camedia C-2000Z.
I guess a "light beacon" is some sort of passive lighthouse, but I am not really sure.

This is North Foreland Lighthouse in Broadstairs Kent England. with a little history.
In Roman times the land that the lighthouse (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/gsj/lthouse.htm) now stands on was called Cantium, this was the old name given to Kent by the explorer Ptolemy about the year 150AD.
There has been a light on Kent's most easterly point since 1505. During the great sea battle against the Dutch in 1666 an observation post was setup on top of the lighthouse. In 1683 the original wooden structure burnt down and in 1691 a new lighthouse was built from which the present building dates.
In 1790 the original coal-fired light was replaced by a patent oil lamp with reflectors and a magnifying lens. In 1931 the light was converted to electricity and is equal to 175,000 candle-power from a 3.5 Kw 240v lamp. The light is recognised by a group flash 5 times every 20 seconds and is visible up to 20 miles away. In 1899 Guglielmo Marconi setup a wireless telegraphy station in a privet house at Foreness Point, Kingsgate. In 1903 the GPO took over the station and installed it in a wooden hut alongside the lighthouse where it remained until 1923 when it was moved to Rumfields. By the end of 1998 the lighthouse will be completely automated

this path is all fixed up real nice now
the old was very old
new pipes were laid down leading to the lighthouse
I can hardly believe this but I just looked up google to get information on
the lighthouse to put here
and up came my post (on the forum) from exactly the same date one year ago when I first posted the lghthouse shots
exactly the same date one year between
never mind the fact when I looked in Google to find information,
but up came my post from last year
(as it mentioned the lighthouse)
shock and horror
