Which version of this shot do you guys like the most?
And yeah aswell, do you even like it? ;)
Any other critique is welcome aswell, should the old lady in the left side of the frame be removed?

The one shot is very greatly overexposed. If you shot it as a jpeg, there's not a lot you can do with it. It looks like you tried to fix it in post processing in the second. However, you still have no detail in the highlights, there's an overall green cast to the image, and it's far too oversaturated to please most people. You would also want to get a shot with the subject face up a little as there is little to draw in the viewer at the angle that you have.

Hey Joedlh. The shot is accurately exposed. Shot it in RAW, PP in lightroom 3.3 and CS5. Highlights have been blown out in PP, saturation is also done by me. No luck in controlling the subject as I shot this without the subject noticing.
Here is the original shot with no PP except converted to JPEG in CS5.

I like your PP version at the top but as mentioned in the 5D thread the person in the corner distracts you. I think the vertical crop is best.

Im totally a noob with PP on LR 3, id be interested to know how you achieved the first pic if you wouldnt mind sharing?

Hey floyd! I adjusted wb, got a nice temparature leaning towards the cooler side and gave it a slightly blue tint. Bumped the contrast and saturation up quite a bit and got this. Was aiming for the polaroid/60's kinda photo.

This has to be the currently best version?

In LR3 I end up only ever using the exposure, fill, blacks, sharpness etc and dont ever touch the saturation/Hue section. Really need to start playing around with those bits more to see what they do. Thanks for the info

Do that! Really is no way one can fail, you can always backstep if you do not like the results. Forgot to mention that I added an unsharp mask in CS5. Or you could just sharpen it in Lightroom.

I actually like the original far better than the over exposed edit...less is more.

Im not digging the green. The original is the best. Also if you hadn't mentioned what that blob on the left was I would have never known what it was, best to just get rid of it. It's kind of unfortunate, I like the framing of the child. Having to crop out the woman ruins the photo for me. But you seem to have a good eye for composition and framing so keep on shooting!

I like the shot.. But 2 things get me..

1. The blurry person in front
2. Cutting off the toes on the boy..

Yikes, I found the original to be bland and uninteresting.

1 is best, 2 is too bright. I would remove the blurry head, and next time if you want full pose, try not to cut of toes.. Keep Shooting!

Thanks, as said before this was a snapshot. Had a microsecond to take the shot and neither of the subjects even noticed I took one.
