I am a happy new owner of a G3 - a huge upgrade to my canon A50 which I bought about 4 or 5 years ago at almost the same price!!!
I am posting to see if any other G3 users out there have any hints or tips for using the G3 for time lapse/night photos...
I am an experienced 35mm slr user and have taken some great shots using the "bulb" setting with my nikon fg20 but I now want to make the same type of photos w/my G3.
One of the reasons I bought the G3 was for thie ability to keep the shutter open up to 15 seconds.
Any input appreciated!

Joebunda,
Most find that using an fstop that is too low will often produce blue or purple fringing around bright lights. Using an fstop that is large will result in a starry effect around bright lights (may be a desirable effect).
I personally like to use fstop around 4.0. Also, I often set the focus manually to infinity. This way I dont have to worry about the autofocus not working in the low light.
I also always use a tripod, or place the camera on somthing stable. I also use the 2 sec delay so that the camera isn't affected by movement when I press the button.
That's about all I can think of for now.

Thanks drisley!
Here is a photo I took about 2 or three years ago using my old Canon A50... I did it without a tripod but it came out prety darn good considering...Once I snap some using my G3 AND my tripod I'll post them as well!

You might give a shot at renaming the post to Time exposure and maybe a few more people will respond because this is more used than Time lapse which is the intervalometer function as opposed to the night/long time exposure. Just a thought.
