Andy,
Nice to hear. Happy shooting.
I switched from a comprehensive film and digital Nikon system (professional bodies and lenses) to Canon just for the 10D. I thought I might kick myself - but have not looked back.
Here are some recommendations:
Canon 70-200mm f4L lens - great portable telephoto
Canon 100mm USM Macro - incredible macro and medium telephoto
I am using a 24-85mm USM lens to cover the rest of the focal length, but it does not do justice to the quality of the camera/CMOS sensor. I am not sure where to go from here, though, maybe I will wait for the 17-40mm f4L, which sounds like a great offering. I think the 24-70 may be a bit heavy on tis camera, though I should try one, I may like it. Or I may purchase a 20mm and 50mm lens instead, as they would be sharper, and probably cheaper (though not as versatile).
Have a great day!

Untill the rain started I've spent the afternoon in the garden with it.......it's superb, virtually no delay between pressing the shutter release & it taking the piccy, unlike my G2... its a shame I'm going to get told off by her about all the jobs I haven't done today when she gets in !

The speed of this camera,.. autofocus and shutter delay (or LACK of shutter delay!) has blown me away. I was grabbing pics of of Swans in flight yesterday in burst mode,. and I'd say the 80% of the pics were focused perfectly! And this is my first tie using it as a complete newbie.
I am no pro and am comparing this to my old Olympus 2100... the difference is astronomical. I know what you mean by loving it and spouses taking a back seat :)
