Into the void

Last weekend, in a drunken haze as I was attempting to pass my camera to a friend so he could document ...well, i cannot remember what we were photographing to tell you the truth....I let go of the Canon S40 and in one swift motion it fell into a glass of beer.... is there any hope that it will work again. The other day I turned it on, and it took some black photos(im guessing the ccd is dead), now the lense is stuck out, and when i turn it on it says E18, beeps and turns off.... i am able to view the previously taken photos, but i have a feeling that i have a very expensive paper weight on my hands, any suggestions? I would check with Canon to see how much it would cost to repair. If you send it in to them, they will give you a free written estimate. If you choose not to get it repaired, they will ship it back to you free of charge. Who knows, it might not be as expensive as you think.
