View Full Version : Purchasing Kenko Online

After weeks of contemplating, I finally decided to buy the Kenko 2.0x Teleconverter and the Kenko Adaptor.

Checking web sites suggested on this forum I started looking for one that sold both items. I don't think one exists, believe it or not.

I then decided to purchase them at different locations.

Four hours later, I have had to put my purchase on hold.
The first site I tried to purchase the adapter at insisted I include a "State/Province" in the form, yet would only let me choose a US state, whereas I am in Australia. The form lets me choose Australia though, from a pull down list.
Awaiting response to my email on this one.

Next was the Teleconverter. To my horror, Global Mart wanted to charge $47 shipping. Goodbye Global Mart.

I searched around for other sources. I found a handful, and some even had better prices. ($59 was best price I found). One of the biggest frustrations was that almost none tell you up front if they ship internationally or what their shipping rates are. I soon learnt that the first thing to do was add the item to the basket, and start the purchase process, which eventually presents a shipping cost table. Most did not ship internationally.

Eventually I came to one which did ship internationally. But guess what, I had a similar problem as with the adaptor. I had to include a US postcode for it to calculate the shipping charge. Awaiting email reply on this one also.

If these above options fail it looks like Lensmate may be my only choice, and their prices are quite a bit higher. ($85 for the Teleconverter alone).

I'll let you know how I go. I would be interested if anyone can suggest alternatives.

http://www.2filters.com/ have both items, but I am not sure they do international delivery.

Thanks Getg3.

Looks like they do ship internationally. They suggest emailing them to get the details. I'll give that a try.

I emailed them for getting the kenko adapter and KNT20 shipped to the UK. Total delivery $22.50. Will probably be ordering from them tomorrow/day after.

I finally got around to purchasing both the Kenko Adapter and the Kenko Teleconverter.

It cost:
KNT-20 Teleconverter $77.37
Bayonet Tube $14.63
International Postage $22.50

I purchased from 2filters.com (ie. "The Filter Connection").

I received an email a few days after ordering saying it was expected in stock the next day.
I also received another email 2 days later telling me it had been sent.

It took a while in postage (almost 2 weeks), but eventually arrived.

Both items look very impressive and are a good color match for the G3.
As indicated in other posts, there are no alignment dots on the bayonet tube, so I took my time attaching this to the G3.

I have only taken a few test pictures around the house so far.

The lens cap is a very snug fit. I was reminded of the old Voltswagen doors, where you sometimes had to open a window to close the door, because the cabin was near air tight. Looks like I will need to push the cap on at an angle to start with, in order to expel enough air to get the cap on far enough.

My main problem though is I cannot now get the bayonet tube off the G3. I don't want to force it either. Has anyone else struck this problem/got a solution?

Haai,

did you check this website ? http://www.lensmateonline.com

see also page http://www.lensmateonline.com/buy.html

Friend of mine bought some stuff there, prompt delivery to The Netherlands (4-5 days), shipping ca. $8.00. They shipped it as "commercial sample" to bypass the customs...

Hope this will help you. Bye for now.Eric

I can't recall who had the lens for $59, but I found the following site has it for $60.99:
