Help With IXUS v3 Night Shot

Can someone help me. I am having trouble getting a clear picture at night...the image is very dark even in a quite lighted room...can hardly see myself...thanks

don't you forgot to switch "long shutter" ON in menue of the camera? And put the camera on tripod.
I tested it in almost dark room - you getting more noise but anyway - it's seems that room lighted normally.
If automatic is not working properly - play with manual shutter speed control (maximum 15 sec.)
