Hey folks,
I have a 1GB Scandisk card, inside of which I can feel something moving when I shake it. It's unfair to really call it a rattle, but there is something wiggling around in there. Don't know why this would be, as I've never subjected the card to any harsh treatment - it's fairly new and has never even fallen off the desk or anything.
Anyone else ever seen this? The card works fine, I've done several shoots / uploads with it with no problems, but I'm wondering if I should really be trusting it?
Thanks...
Joe

Joe, don't think of it as a problem. Think of it as an undocumented feature.
If it isn't hurting anything, then it isn't hurting anything.

I've got a couple that rattle too. I try not to shake them too much though. I don't want to mix the colors on my photos that way....

Now you did it.
Everyone is going to want one that rattles now.

I already got mine. If you want a more logical reason, it's the board that supports the memory and the socket that is slipping around in the protective frame and metal covering... Don't worry about it.
This pic, at the time I got the link shows the inside of a compact flash card, you can see the way it would fit inside the frame and metal covering, so you understand whats going on there.

If that link stays, or if someone wants to download it and re-attach it, it looks like the "IMPACT" brand is actually a Lexar part inside, and the solution to the rattling Sandisk, For sandisk Engineer's "thin fiber sticky tape on the connector to stick the connector to the metal housing" If ever there is a problem with heat disipation on a cf card, put fragtape on the chips and stick them to the metal housing to act as a memory heat spreader.

If you have doubt, send it back for replacement. I had pryed opened one before and the chip inside is by Samsung. The cover actually was taped to the chip to hold it into place.

I believe that the Kingston cards are powered by Samsung, probably the worlds most innovative chip maker.

I have a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II that rattles, too. Works fine, no problems.
