There are quite a few Hearst Castle threads on here, but I couldn't find any where people went on a foggy day. I was up there last weekend, and at first I was bummed by all the fog, but then I started thinking that it made it look kind of cool. We did tour #2, for those who are familiar with it. All images were taken with the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, no filters. What do you guys think?

Aw, these bring me back to my childhood. I went several times with my parents when I was a kid. This place is magical, I swear.

Thanks for sharing!

The outdoor shots with the fog are very cool. I've always visited in summer when the skies were clear so it's nice to see it in a different light.

I really like the B&W of the house in the fog.

Thanks for nice comments! Yeah, I love that place. I had been once before when I was like 15 (about 14 years ago...), and we just did the basic overview tour. I remember thinking how incredible it all was, but I had no interest in photography back then, so it was nice to re-visit and get some cool shots.

Very nice indeed ! Love the colors, and the moodiness of #2.

Somewhat OT, but you might appreciate: in one of David Nivens' autobiographies (he wrote two IIRC), he describes driving up to Hearst Castle when WR Hearst and Marion Davies used to host the era's great Hollywood stars on long weekends. And he describes how, driving up the mountain from the highway, as far as the eye could see, it was all Hearst Property !

Thanks! Yeah, they still own quite a lot of property up there. Only a tiny portion of it is for the castle. It would've been pretty awesome to be a fly in the wall of that place back in those days.
