Is there anyway to use remote capture just to release the shutter.
I have the camera attached to My telscope on full manual, long Exposure etc but remote capture takes control only giving limited options.
I would've thought that remote captures basic feature would be to simulate a cable shuter release

You are using a telescope, are you trying to get a long (infinite) exposure by holding the shutter release?
If you manually set the camera to the settings you want (low light conditions), and turn off the flash, the camera should give you a long enough exposure time. Then just use remote capture to activate the shot. This has worked for me in night shots. (I have an S400).

OK.... that is what I'm trying to acieve but cant seem to do it
unless I'm missing something the version of remote capture supplied with the A70 does not allow you to set the camera manually then used remote capture to release the shutter, It goes back to an auto mode with few options.
If I'm missinmg something please enlighten me

Have an A70 and have been able to set a 15" shutter speed (longest exposure time available) in manual mode. I am running rempote capture 2.7.2 and have tried 2.7.0 as well and I am running Windows XP Pro. I find remote capture does crash a lot as well as Zoom Browser EX. I also lose the view finder window in Remote Capture if i zoom in and out to much or the window just freezes on me.

There is no T or B setting on the A70. You are limited to the speeds you can dial in.
T (time) would be press once to open shutter, press again to close.
B (bulb) would be press once and keep pressing to open and keep open the shutter. Release button to close shutter.
