Means picking a spot would be easier
Fewer to please :)

Seriously, there have to be a few more of us more northern brits interested in meeting up... maybe if we picked a few possible locations?

I'm up for that - thought Chester might be good as it offers a lot of variety. But suggestions would be good.

OK, I'm going to play dumb now...
What does Chester have photography wise?
This isn't me having a dig at chester, I simply don't know what is there and a few ideas would help bring others in too.
Looking at the map it is a couple of hours for me, so very do-able

I'd be interested in a meet. Like richard though, I wonder what there is to photograph around Chester.

The walls, the rows, the river, the roman ruins. I guess it depends on what rings your bell photographic wise.

Also it is fairly central for the UK and might be a handy place for people to congregate. But I'm just making a suggestion in the hope of kicking a meet into reality.

Chester has lots of history going way back before even Belmondo was born ;-) There is also the Zoo of course, which is very famous. I went as a kid and trace my wildlife fascination to those days, after all I was born in Kirkby, Liverpool, which is about as far from a 'wildlife' environment that you could imagine   unless you count the residents!

I can think of some good locations if we're in Cumbria.

That location is called Hodges Close, it's about 200 feet from the nearest parking.

The problem is, that 200' is vertical.

Joking aside though, that spot is accessible with a bit of scrambling but there's plenty of other stuff up there that is next to or near the road.

I had visions of you wanting to trek miles at dawn after camping out in freezing wet weather, after looking at your links!

I'm OK for an hours walk or so just not long forced marches
