I've noticed almost everyone use the lensmate adapter but my concern is vignetting, would a bigger adapter reduce vignetting?. I'm considering the Raynox adapter, its 52mm intead of the lensmate's 49mm.

Anyone tried this adapter or another bigger than 49mm?

Remember that the bigger your lens adapter, the less you can use your viewfinder, af light, and inbuilt flash.

I didnt consider that, but i think i need example pics of how much vignetting i would get from the lensmate+filter vs. other adapter+filter so i can have a final decision

I am using a 58mm Canon adapter. I leave it on all the time to protect the lens mechanism. I now also have a lens hood on it making it even bigger. I haven't found a problem with it. Of course it does block about 1/4 to 1/3 of the lower right corner of the viewfinder. I think the accuracy of the view finder is not good enough that it makes a difference.

Hi Xoul,

I use the Olympus WCON-08 with a Kenko 52 mm adapter (and 52->55 mm step-up ring).

It's a great lens but huge (blocks the viewfinder&flash a lot more than the adapter :-) and pricey (>125 US$ on ebay for a new one if you're lucky)

For a review of more adapters, refer to http://kazutoku.cside21.com/G1andG2/report1_eng.htm#conv

Andy

I forgot to add, no vignetting at all over the whole zoom range with the Olympus WCON 08. No visible chromatic aberration or blurring although using step-up ring.
