I've just got back from a soggy week in the lakes, but I spent some mornings out and about - and derwent water got my attention one day

Such a fantastic piece of water, here are a couple of my shots

Both taken with my 10-22mm at between F8 and F11
Metered using sekonik 358 and had a lee NG Grad 0.6 attached.
Post processed in C1 to bring the dawn colours out as I saw them

Thanks for looking, comments welcome

Lovely, I been there myself, very nice place to visit.

Second shot is amazing, and the dull clouds and skyline actually make this picture im my opinion.

You see sunrise as purple? Nice composition, but the color cast is throwing me.

I'll have to check it on my calibrated monitor, work done so far on my laptop

But yes, the pre dawn light had lilac hues to it there, and I wanted to capture that.

Thanks for your comments!

I am on my calibrated (ish) monitor now and I can see the second shot is too purple
Got some work to do now!

Maybe so but I really like the effect that it gives. All I can think of is what a great Moody Blues album cover. :) :) or maybe Prince's 'Purple Rain'

that first shot Richard...
You really missed the money shot mate. That is definately the trail of a recently submerged sea creature.
Better luck next time is what I say
Nice shot BTW

Great dreamy photos there.

I also shot recently lake shots like these, and by changing the RAW colour temp, really made it go purple. Surprised at just how sensitive it was. But yeah, I've also seen some really different hues in sunsets.

:)
