That's an excellent shot, I love the background colour you've managed to capture.....looks like compression affected the quality somewhat, I'll bet the original looks great.

OB1 Great shot, really like it:cool: I just stay 10mins away from where this was taken, did you get any hassle when you were taking it? Sometimes the local police get a bit upset at people taking shots of this plant for some reason:rolleyes:

I like it too. I only have one small pick...I don't like the one stack that got cropped.

rickydiver - indeed I did get hassled taking this photo. The BP ' jobsworths ' phoned the police as apparently I could have been a terrorist. These guys were particulary aggressive towards me and informed me I had infringed a restricted area. I was in an open car park with no signs anywhere, and remained well clear of the perimiter fence at all times. I then waited over an hour for the Police to arrive. (Good job I wasn't a terrorist then). The Police were fine about it, apparently this happens quite a lot. I was told to wipe the memory card, and I did wipe ' a ' memory card in their presence. It's quite annoying that I can't pursue my hobby in peace as I certainly wasn't doing anything illegal.

Thanks for the comments folks, and agreed that I shouldn't have chopped one of the stacks, I don't plan on going back in a hurry to shoot again though.

OB1 I am not surprised to hear you got hassle from the Inovene (no longer BP) jobs worths. I reckon if you were a terrorist you would not be quite as obvious trying to take photos of there plant, There are plenty of photos that have been taken over the years (prior to the worlds governments classing everyone as a bin laden suspect) of the old BP that are readily accessable. What excuse did the Police give you for having to delete your files? No doubt some crap about anti terror laws? Someone needs to fight this crap. If we are standing on the public highway (I know you may have been in their carpark, however without a barrier accross it, it then becomes an extension of the public highway) we should be able to snap away without the threat from the Police. Taking photos is hardly crime of the century:mad:

I was given the " You know how it is in the current climate, we can't take any chances " speech. My feeling was that the Police instructed me to wipe the memory card merely to appease the staff from the plant, who for some reason were clearly out to cause as much trouble as possible. I'm fairly new to photography and didn't really expect this kind of thing. However having spoken to a few photographers recently I'm led to believe that this kind of treatment is unfortunately happening more and more.
