In my last post I posted a couple of pictures of bobcat kittens in a tree and mentioned that I had been attractd to the site by the noise being made by some cactus wrens and a road runner. Whilst of little merit technically I thought you might like to see the next shot because it adds to the narrative. Finally I have included another bobcat picture because this is what all the fusswas about. I think they go together nicely.

OK, I missed the first posting.. The bobcat and roadrunner wasn't taken in England. Where were the photographs taken?

They were unbelievably in a tree close to the edge of a parking lot by a golf course which forms part of the "Boulders" resort N. of Scottsdale where we spend a couple of weeks each summer. A path ran virtually beneath the tree. Also saw javelina, coyote and roadrunner on our patio just 15 feet away. Gambels Quail, cardinals, woodpeckers plus various other finches visited every day. great photo opportunities Finally on our last day an eagle with a white head, yellow beak and yellow legs perched in the branches of a cottonwood tree right alongside us ... thought initially that it was a bald eagle...in that area?..but then spotted a white tail but with a definite brown band about an inch wide across it...that threw me! Too many branches to get a shot...appreciate thoughts on this?

Hotel staff say they have seen mountain lion in the same parking lot but the site is bouncing with cottontail rabbits which may account for the predators.

Best place I've ever visited for wildlife on the doorstep. However rates at peak times are more per night than the return air fare from the UK. Summer rates though are literally a fraction of that...and we can make it to Grand Canyon or Monument Valley and back in a day. (Weekends can get busy, once counted almost 20 people around the pool!!). Golf courses seem popular though.

I live in Scottsdale and it sounds like I need to check this place out, especially since I took delivery of some new lenses today.
