So I bought the SD400. This camera got good review and was recommended to me. I like it except for that fact that white on pictures seem to reflect and create a fuzzy picture. Any setting I can play with to allievate this? As of now my old fuji is taking better pictures. I can post one so you can see what I am talking about. Plz help

I'd check the Scene mode selected, e.g., maybe night shot is selected. Maybe the exposure is set too high. The type of lighting selected can have an big effect. Maybe white balance. On an SD500 it can be custom set and I tested setting the white balance using black, green, and red backgrounds but the effect was just a color shift not fuzziness or overexposure.

I had an SD500 a while ago..never really played with white balance..just for snapshots and such. Never saw that problem on there. never seen that problem on any Canon compact P&S. You're obviously just overexposed. Does the SD400 have exposure compensation? Play with it.

take it back to the store and ask them to help you out. I work at a camera store and i have never seen that happen

If ron isn't right. This looks just like the time I took my DSLR out of the cold and into a warm house. It fogged up. But, you would know that. So it seems like its the mode. Start with the green rectangle and do some tests.

I have the same problem. I can't figure it out and I have tried everything. I talked with the Canon support person and he had some good suggestions but I still can't get the quality.

- I have the halo look as you have in your image (I can get somewhat better results than you show by shooting in manual modes)
- my images lack detail when enlarged
- my images look like there is jpg compression issue (this shouldn't be an issue with the setting I have the camera set to)

I love the camera but I may switch back to my old Nikon 990 if I can't get better results

I contacted Canon support - which is very helpful - but I ended up sending the camera away to their service facility this morning.

I had posted some of the images to my Yahoo photo account but they said they couldn't go out to that site and view images for review or critique (I guess it is company policy).

I still can't figure it out. Anywhere there is high contrast I get that halo look. On images where it isn't quite as bad - shots I may have used manual mode 0 I still get a blueish fuzzing at the edges.

Hopefully, I will hear something within the week.
