Greetings all, new to board. After quite a bit of research I decided on the Powershot S50. My first digital camera. I am new to photography, however am very intrigued and interested in it.

One question I have is, I am having problems getting shots taken inside a nightclub setting without flash. Flash of course kills the picture and the nightclub setting. Can anyone provide some input on the best way to get shots inside a club? A club, with strobes and light scanners..Any input would be excellent!

Thanks,

Chad.

Something simple you can do with the S50 is get out of the Auto or P mode, and go in Tv (shutter priority). Set the speed to something you will find reasonable and that will reduce camera shake and blurring of the fast moving "action" (say 1/40), crank up the ISO setting to 200 or maybe even 400 (but lots of noise there), turn off the flash, and snap pictures. Odds are the pictures will be on the dark side, but with a bit of experimentation, you'll manage taking good ones. The next step will be going full manual...

Having said this, autofocus will be difficult, so you may have to estimate the distance to the subject and then use manual focus.
