View Full Version : D30 flash problems

Having a few problems using an external flash with my D30. I have just purchased a speedlite 420ex to use with the D30. On full auto setting on the camera I get sharp pictures in a normally lit room but the depth of field is very shallow.

If I go to program mode I can crank up the f setting to get a better depth of field, but then the shutter speed goes down to a point where I get blurring on the picture from camera shake.

This is all with the camera set to an ISO of 800.

Can somebody tell me what I'll doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Set the camera to Manual at the shutter/aperture settings you want.
Provided your subject isn't outside the range that the flash can cover with that aperture, the flash output will be set to expose the subject correctly.

Many thanks Chris, I'll try that.

Cheers.
