Moo are not the cheapest, but they are good quality and very quick to deliver.

I have used them to make Xmas cards for my mother to use. The last two years has seen my dog Texas posing on the front of 4 different cards!

I use Moo - you can go for the business card, or the "moo" card which is a slimmer version. The quality is fantastic ... I use them for business cards, note cards and stickers!! Love em!

still on the hunt for a builder, the one's I've contacted either don't phone you back or have come round to quote but never actually given a quote, its like they don't want the work. Madness!

Living room carpet being fitted tomorrow so that will be the first finished room!

Cheers for the BBQ ideas, I firstly need to by a cooker aswell, 60cm, gas hob and electric double over if anyone knows of one lying around!

Ian, im a member on the Rated People website, you may wish to try looking for a local builder on there, just enter your brief, this will go live and you should get three replys regarding the job, we all get feedback ratings and have samples of previous works, Simples.

Wonderful shot of the grasshopper - great colour isnt it.

The hoverfly is "volucella zonaria" - one of the largest of the hovers. The other one that might also be confused with it is volucella inanis but the two can be separated easily as "zonaria" - yours - has the chestnut brown markings.

Linda

cheers Linda, I found out its name on Brians Flickr, next step is to try and get a decent photo of it

Cannot speak for b/room "fitting" but for gen plumbing & CH we have used Frank Tigwell ~ local guy to us near Guildford who I surmise would travel.........but how far??? He certainly has a busy diary. Apart from local ads we found him on the "Buy with Confidence" website and would hope you could find one much 'in your area' :D

Hi Guys,

An update for you ref SWMBO ~ the break turned out to be more serious :( both bones at the distal end (i.e. by the ankle joint) are fractured. We spent the almost the whole day at the hospital with them initially saying she would go into surgery today...........slow forward to late afternoon and now booked for next week to be made into the bionic woman.....oh well she might set off the metal detectors at the airport  Then 6 weeks in a cast with no weight allowed on the foot!!!!! Not the happiest memory for her of the Farnes trip :(

The next few weeks will bring new meaning to the SWMBO ;)

Me neither, all just startled faces. I'm not surprised as he was way too obvious.

At least if you're going to get in the person's face then say thank you. He was quite rude I thought.

I dunno, i think some of them are pretty good considering it didn't even look like he had time to focus with the M9. There are a couple of startled faces but other than that they are pretty good and seem natural. I wouldn't have guessed that he had taken them in that manner if i hadn't seen the video first.

I agree that its rude not to say thank you as you move on though.

Some of his portfolio shots are interesting.

I guess he must have an approx. focus distance in mind - he seemed to have a pretty consistent operating space in mind for most of those shots - and good ol' B&W hides a multitude of sins! ;)

there must be some good money in intrusive startled street portraits

Hi Guys,

An update for you ref SWMBO ~ the break turned out to be more serious both bones at the distal end (i.e. by the ankle joint) are fractured. Not the happiest memory for her of the Farnes trip

The next few weeks will bring new meaning to the SWMBO ;)

Ouch send her our best and hope she makes a quick recovery

Thanks, it was the to'ing & fro'ing of them appearing to decide to do it as urgent/emergency timeframe (today or tomorrow) and then coming back and saying next Mon ??? funnily enough we we're disucssing this very lens when we met at the BWC and I mentioned I should probably get rid of mine - then it was the only lens I used in Barcelona and it's super sharp and brilliantly suited to the 5DmkII - so I apologised for suggesting it might be sold and we're friends again! :D

I know!
I have been having this internal struggle for well over a year now - its a beautiful lens and great for when you are out and about. Its always been my
"holiday" lens. I dont really want to part with it, but in the same breath i think i might get more use out of another lens that doesnt overlap my existing focal ranges so much.

hard stops work well only make a bit of a click sound when the stop hits the top marker, but can be fixed easily with some of those 3M sticky pads on each side to cushion it (its the metal hitting metal thats making the noise, and there is no backlash.

Depends on the lens, I use a 50mm plate on the 70-200mm and a 60mm plate on the 300mm. I have one of these on the 7D - L plate (http://www.warehouseexpress.com/l-brackets-and-lens-collars/b3191?SortBy=BestSellerOrder&PageNum=1)
have a look at this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/andys1/5863241921/). This does have a different clamp

What size plate would you suggest for a body+shortish zoom? I was going to get a couple of plates for bodies and a 60mm. Would 60mm do for bodies as well?

Yes , the clamp is 50mm, on my 50D I have a 70mm plate, but then I got it cheap.
So a 50 or 60mm plate is fine, unless you want a bit of movement then put a longer one on.

Not yet, I've not enough hours in the day at the moment, absolute madness.

Got my parents here next week and sister over from Oz aswell and I've not even got a cooker! Good excuse to go out though ;)

Got a few runs to the tip tomorrow with all this excess carpet, anyone need any to line the garage walls or owt?

Squeeky floorboards, but not sure where the joists are so could be fun trying to screw them down.

Need to buy some garden tools aswell, at the moment I've cut the lawn but the edges are still long, so strimmer or long handled shears tomorrow are on the shopping list.

You have my sympathy. Moving in to a new place is always mad - a couple of months down the line you'll be sorted.

This made me laugh as my husband cut all the edges on our grass with the kitchen scissors last weekend as the strimmer broke! Oh how I laughed! Needless to say long handled shears have been purchased!

They are all wonderful shots. Love the way the light has caught the colours on the wings on #1.

evening all... at the risk of humiliatign myself after Marks superb macro offerings, I took this yesterday, was trying to introduce some flash into the macro shots... annoyingly I lost the flash diffuser in my hazy weekend in Barcelona... so it's a bit "raw" but I will be attempting some more!

Back luck on the clutch. I do hate it when life gets in the way of a good lens purchase.
