View Full Version : quote tag duplicated

I just realized that all the quote boxes are duplicated like the example below on my posts to the
3D (Stereo Photography) (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=87970&page=2) topic:
http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit/varios/onthenet/doublequote.gif
I am almost sure that each post was correct (with just the second quote box) the day I posted and that the duplication took place in a later date.
I have other posts with quote boxes in other topics and they are correct.
Have somebody experienced a similar problem?
Did somebody know why this happened?
I will wait for a while before editing those posts to let you follow the link to them if you like.
I hope to find an answer here mainly to discard a personal error that may cause that weird behavior of the quote tag.

I looked at your posts, and there's something definitely strange going on. This is what you're submitting: (spaces added to make this print)
[/ font][font =Verdana]I agree with FotOz in this:
[/ font][font =Verdana][quote =FotOz]
[/ font][color =black][font =Verdana]You'll know if you have them (the images) on the wrong side as the 3-D will 'turn itself inside out'
[/ font][/ color][color =black][font =Verdana][/ quote]
[/ font][/ color][color =black][font =Verdana]I will support FotOz in this:
[/ font][/ color][font =Verdana][quote =FotOz]
[/ font][color =black][font =Verdana]Do you reckon we should see if we can get a 3D forum started?
[/ font][/ color][color =black][font =Verdana][/ quote]
[/ font][/ color]
You have a lot of unnecessary formatting commands there.
It really shouldn't be any more complicated than this (again, spaces added):
I agree with FotOz in this:
[quote =FotOz]You'll know if you have them (the images) on the wrong side as the 3-D will 'turn itself inside out' [/ quote]
I will support FotOz in this:
[quote =FotOz]Do you reckon we should see if we can get a 3D forum started?[/ quote]

Thank you belmondo.
I agree with you, I wrote just quote and b tags on my original text. All the font and color formatting commands have been automatically added by the editor.
As I remember, I wrote the text in Word and paste it on the editor window in WYSIWYG mode.
I reproduced the procedure today and the redundant tags are not added around the quote tag anymore, at least not in preview mode.
As I said in my previous post, I do not remember the duplication on my posts the days I was reading the 3D topic frequently, and other posts of mine with quote tags are normal in other topics.
At this point, I am clear about the problem, thank you again, I am just wondering if the change to the new version of vBoulletin had something to do with this.
For future inquires about code I will be in touch with you. And I will be a bit more patient also. I sent to Pekka a PM about this before your answer. It is not my intention to bother Pekka or the moderators unnecessarily.

I've seent this before,. can't rememebr who (not you) but when I opened the post to eidt.. the formatting was crazy!
I don't use the "editors" I just type the tags.. so I'm guessing it's the editors..

Thank you CyberDyneSystems.
After the feedback received I edited my above mentioned posts to remove the ‘crazy formatting’ and the duplication of quote boxes caused by it.
Those already interested in the error can see the screen captured in the image of my first post and the code exposed by belmondo in the second post of this topic.

Iv seen this before on another VB forum, Im afraid I have no explanation, but its not totaly uncommon.
VB has its own quite extensive forums talking about VB, you could try posting a question there and Im sure someone will know whats causing it.
