I have just received my new Canon 10D and am loving it. I have a Dedicated Canon Macro ring lite-ML3 and it does not seem to fire at all. I checked with my older canon and it works fine. Can anyone help me with my problem or do I have to retire my macro flash to the shelf.

I don't think the ML-3 does E-TTL and the 10D doesn't do TTL. A workaround is to use the flash in manual, but I don't think the ML-3 supports that either.

Generally, you need a flash that ends in EX (like the MR-14EX and MT-24EX) to work automatically with the 10D.

But perhaps there's a workaround that I don't know about...

According to the Canon EOS system guide, the ML-3 is discontinued. It does NOT do E-TTL, which is what you want for the 10D.

The two macro ring lights that are compatible are the MR-14EX and the MT-24EX.

For that matter, the Speedlites that are compatible have EX on the end, not EZ or EG.
