Anyone have any experience with JTL J-110 monolights? I'm trying to find some cheap home studio lights, and a pair of these kits:

My first experiment with studio lighting was a purchase of three JTL-110 monostrobes, stands, 45 inch umbrellas, and the JTL portable backdrop stand. Overall this was a good setup for starting and experimenting in the studio or on location. Remember you will be limited at 110 W/S, which is not a whole lot of light energy. But definitely can do the job for studio portrait work. Nevertheless, today I would seriously look at the Alien Bees kits. I have the JTLs , Alien Bees, and a complete Novatron Studio kit. The Alien Bees appear to be better constructed and have small but important features like continuous output adjustments and built-in fan to keep the electronics cool.
I have attached a “typical” example using the JTL setup. The image was our Company Holiday Party a few years ago. Only two JTL 110 were used with the portable backdrop. Adequate but lacks the “punch” of stronger and more flexible lighting.
