Nice series Brian - I haven't seen this lot before. I especially like the "fly demolishing fly" and "ol' hairy eyes".

Thanks Al, I would have thought that some of them have been on Dgrin?
Ol hairy eyes is actually a recent shot- couple of days ago- thought it worth including as it is an example of what you can get with the "dreadful" kit-lens.

I was quite suprised how well the kit lens performed on suitable closeup rings (apparently it will not work on most closeup rings including the Kenco ones).
Here's another test shot I did with the kit lens- interesting to compare it to the sigma 105 macro.

Thanks all again,
Obviously I enjoy taking macros and in fact just watching the bugs. I'm pretty useless at normal photography lol.

I was lucky with the spider- I had taken a few picks of her a week earlier walking around with her egg sac- so I knew where she was hanging out. Have to admit when I first saw her I thought she had gone mouldy or something- wasn't till I looked at the pics I realised she was carrying babies. Apparently it's a trade mark of Wolf spiders.

These are great shots, especially the rare shot of the spider with babies and the cricket that appears to be feeding. Which flash do you use?

Thanks for the comments foxbat,
I use a sigma 500 super dg flash in ettl mode, camera in manual normally F11-F16 1/200th.
