Why don't you want the one with LED, or are you just searching for that certain model?

Basically you are looking for the 20" or 24" imacs all of the 21.5" and 27" are LED. The last model numbers without LED would be MC015LL/A for the 20" and MB418LL/A (2.66 GHz), MB419LL/A (2.93 GHz), MB420LL/A (3.06 GHz) for the 27".

As an owner of a 20" iMac I can say that the non LED backlighting (which I suspect may be a line of CCFLs) can produce very obvious stripes on the screen. Also, the first Intel iMac (Mid-2007 20" and 24") had a TN panel, which made the screen even worse. If you're going to get an iMac, I'd recommend the newer ones.

The first generation of Intel iMacs appeared early 2006. I don't know what screens they used for those, but I myself have a late 2006 20" iMac with a matte IPS screen that is simply terrific.

A lot of people have that problem especially at night. The light coming from the LED is much whiter and not as toned as from normal displays.

I suggest you look into this program, It's called Flux, and basically adjusts the white balance of your screen later at night to match the lights in your room. I personally love it for web browsing, and has a setting to disable it for a certain time while editing photos.
