i've posted a link to my gallery in the 'Other' section, but i wanted you guys to see it, so i dropped the quality - and i'll show you.
what do you prefer, the colour of the black and white?
also - is the black and white conversion anygood, or is to to plain and dull?

looks nice, but ew. See, this is the kind of shot I'd like to play with a bit. I'd see what it looks like to make the bottle and glass in color, and desaturate the rest. Pop up the contrast a bit, etc. Might be interesting. If I had to pick color or mono, though, I'd pick monochrome. Seems to make the details pop at me a bit more.

Hi,
I like the half colour, half b/w image. Personally, I'n not sure if the table and/or chopsticks would be better in colour. I think that the BW background helps to focus attention onto the colour subject..
It's a shame the building is 'growing' out of the top of the bottle. Would a slight gaussian blur on the background introduce a greater separation?
Overall though, great shot. I like the placement of the chopsticks. Very well seen/created.

thanks guys,
i'm what some would label a 'photography freak' or even 'tryhard'.
the waitress started a whole conversation with me about why i was putting my chin on the table and lining up the glass and chopsticks, and turning the bottle 10 times, then checking again.
she was cute too :D
heres one with more blur in the background.

Hi MattyB
Thanks for posting that.
IMHO, it has helped a lot. It's created a separation beween the bottle and the building that to my eye was needed.
As I still say, great pic. And I normally get those sorts of comments from my wife, followed by a hurry up :lol:

I like the B&W with color.... :)
If it were me, and it's not, I'd either use only a touch of blur..too much blur gives a strange impression of distance for me,(don't forget to blur that white area behind the table as well), replace the background with a shot of the city and shift it over so it doesn't interfere with the bottle..(This would be my pick as I think the city background sets the scene), or shift the background over and use clone to fill in the missing areas. (tricky, but I think there is enough pattern in the parts showing to fill in the blanks) :)
I'd remove that person from the background with clone. They just seem distracting :p
And colorize the chopsticks along with the drink! Cause chopsticks are too cool! :D
And the last thing would be to straighten it out, or tilt it more... the amount right now is so slight that I cannot decide if it was deliberate or not.
Maybe I critique too much :p All in all, I love what you have done with lunch! Mine would never look so glamourous ;) hehehehe

I like the color one, or the half and half...the one that's entirely b&w seems to lack some contrast maybe...looks like there's too much of a grey scale in it for my taste. But just my opinion. Great shots!
