I took this picture this morning on the way to work. 8:30am
I waited a long time for the £$%*& Swan to glide into position (Centrally to the tree) and then I missed the shot by a second.
So I used Photoshop to relocate him back to where I wanted him.
I cropped it a little to achieve some form of symmetry.
What do you think?

I would like to see the original :) It a bit too symetrical for my tastes.... but I certainly LOVE what you were going for! That shadow/reflection on the water just makes him POP! I dunno... I'm no expert :P But, since it was symetry you were going for, I think you got it ;)

I especially like the fact that even though his beak is dark, you can still see the shape of it due to the light area along the bottom... His profile stands out perfectly :D

Thanks for your comments.
Yes I did want to achieve symmetry and in doing so I know I was breaking the rule of thirds etc.
But I felt this was the way to go with this pic.
here is the original.

It does look nice in B&W... the swan just stands out so nicely :) I like the natural placement of the original shot.... but I do like the stark, deliberate artwork feel of the B&W one. It's more of a statement I spose :)

I like it for such a delicate creature the picture for me is strong in composition i also like it in BW, but i would say that :-)

Kind words indeed.
And coming from you martin, that's a huge complement.
This morning was a typical UK misty dull October day and I felt that Black and White was so appropriate for the sombre mood I wanted to convey.
