I have been having problems with the custom white balance of my 10D. I have been trying to set it for a white balance with my studio strobes. No matter what I do, use white paper or a gray card, the result is noticeably greenish. I have followed the manual over and over and even tried different white sheets of paper. Over and over again the result has a greenish tone that is very noticeable in skin tones.

Anyone having the same problems?

Any suggestions?

By greenish do you mean it just looks that way or that pixels that should be neutral have higher numbers for green than for red and blue?

If you're going by look, what is the output device and is it calibrated/color managed?

Greenish as in the skin tone has a very noticeable green cast. Even in some areas that are supposed to be white a greenish tinge is noticeable.

My monitor is calibrated via colorvision spyder and I didn't have the same problem with my D30.

what software are you using to view it.
I have this problem with PS7+ACR, but not when I convert via Canon file viewer.

My guess is something to do with aRGB vs sRGB.

Just a thought maybe having no bearing on reality.

[my fix is to raise color temp by 1200 and change tint to -20 when opening in ACR]

Whether I view the pic through the lcd, Canon's zoom browser, or breezebrowser the image has a noticeable green cast. Quite noticeable in skin tones.

Hi there,

I have tested the custom white balance
on my D60 and it always worked.

I will check the 10D tomorrow and let you
know.

I have unsharp problems with the 10D
compared to the D60, any familiar problems.

Jeroen

I m just guessing here, but check color temp by shooting at a higher temp, if that does not work, my guess is either the lens, filter or you actually have a problem with the camera.

Just my guess.
