A colleague of mine just got this new site? suggestions?

Yo! Kudos for the website but there are a few things I would change...By no means am I extremely web savvy but my biz partner is a web designer and I've learned a lot through osmosis. With that being said, I think that website may be in flash. The downside with flash is, it's not SEO friendly. (Search engine optimized) Meaning, there aren't a lot of elements and keywords google can pull from to increase your ranking or even web presence.

The design itself is a bit busy and it isn't very user friendly. The more clicks or time the potential client has to spend in navigating through the site will equate into lost interest. I suggest getting a more stable site hosted by wordpress and pick out a theme created specifically for photographers. At most, you'll spend $50 bucks for the theme on top of $10 or so in hosting per month.

Simplicity is key when working with a photographic portfolio. Keywording, constant blog updating and backlinking (leaving comments and links to your portfolio on other websites) will increase SEO rankings. I like the use of imagery incorporated into the design but I think it could be laid out better. Also, having Wix's branding on the footer won't do much for your friend...It isn't professional. If you have a professionally laid out website, it's almost like your wardrobe. People judge you by what you wear. If you are decked out in freebie clothing from say a county fair, people think less of you because you didn't invest money into your self image. Yes, it's shallow but that's kind of how the world works nowadays :(

Hopefully I didn't come off harsh but I think having a professionally built website is very important!

Very nice website love the colors. The logo is horrible tho. Maybe your friend needs a professional logo? I specialize in logo design can pm my portfolio upon request. I do ad agency quality work.
