new to b/w

I'm quite new to photography and found this forum (thank goodness). I've been reading threads for weeks. I hope that I've at least learned something. So - I suppose the next step is to post an image. So, here goes nothin'.

I'd say that's *high* contrast! Very nice...looks like they were frames in an 1890's silent film.
